Citi Financial Layoffs in Baltimore (UPDATED)
I just got an inside scoop on not yet public news that the downtown Baltimore location of Citi Financial will be laying off hundreds from the financing and accounting departments and will potentially have subsequent rounds of layoffs for marketing, legal, and other departments. This doesn’t come with any surprise as Citi has promised to slash billions in operating expenses.

All the accounting in "Home Office Baltimore" is being let go between June 2008 and beginning of next year. Most jobs will go to
I feel bad for those being let go...hopefully they will find new jobs quickly.

I just got laid off and Im a citi employee. I voted for Obama but Im pretty sure that I wont be getting my job back soon...
I also worked for CitiFinancial and got laid off on Friday...my entire branch actually closed. So much for guaranteeing that there would be no more branch closing in 2008. I guess you just cannot believe what the EVP of a company says.
Hs anyone else heard about the 3000 additional cuts that will be coming in early 1st quarter 2009? This is in addition to the 1002 people that just lost their jobs last week?? I'm curious to know more details, but have heard from more than 1 source so far that this will be indeed a reality.
